Mu Sigma Chapter Sigma Theta Tau International

The goal of the Mu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International is to recognize excellence in clinical practice, scholarly achievement and leadership in the profession. Mu Sigma Chapter is affiliated with University of Alberta and became a member of Sigma Theta Tau International on March 24, 1992. It was the third Canadian chapter and first Western Canadian chapter to be chartered.

Scholarly exchange and networking in a community of international scholars is facilitated through our membership in Sigma Theta Tau International. Mu Sigma Chapter sponsors annual scholarly conferences and research activities in nursing. Mu Sigma Chapter is involved in fund raising for the local chapter in order to ensure continued support for excellence in nursing practice, research and scholarly endeavors. Such excellence is recognized through annual awards for research, educational achievements and clinical innovation. In addition, the Chapter supports at least one charitable activity each year.

Mu Sigma Chapter was the first Canadian chapter to receive a Chapter Key Award. The award is given to select chapters in recognition of chapter excellence. Mu Sigma Chapter was presented with the award at the STTI 2001 Biennium.
